Bio - Sidney R. Hargro
Sidney Hargro’s thirteen-year career in philanthropy has produced a record of success in community leadership, organizational innovation and performance, and strategic grant investment.
On October 31, 2009, Sidney began his tenure as the first Executive Director of the Community Foundation of South Jersey (CFSJ) which serves the southern eight counties of New Jersey. Sidney's goals are to build and implement a foundation strategy that embraces the foundations three roles as:

Giving advisor to donors with funds at the foundation;

Advocate for philanthropic investment in South Jersey causes; and
-
Community convener for the issues that matter in South Jersey.
Sidney came to the foundation from The Columbus Foundation in Columbus, Ohio where he was the Senior Officer of Strategy and Organizational Learning. He managed the foundation’s business and innovation strategy; organizational learning and performance; and social impact evaluation. He also served as the personal philanthropic advisor for the
Siemer Family Foundation,
Paul G. Duke Foundation, and
Central Benefits Healthcare Foundation.
As a community leader, Sidney has actively participates on a myriad of boards and committees regionally and nationally. He is the author of “Lessons Learned,” a chapter in the Foundation Center’s fundraising guide titled,
After the Grant: A Nonprofit’s Guide to good Stewardship.
Sidney Hargro graduated summa cum laude from
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, NC with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and then received a master’s degrees from
The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and
United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.
