Habitat for Humanity of Salem County

Habitat for Humanity of Salem County NJ, INC was established in 1982. As New Jersey’s oldest Habitat for Humanity International affiliate, it is a nonprofit Christian-housing ministry that believes every man, woman, and child deserves a decent, safe, and affordable home.

Habitat International has determined the need for community revitalization due to an overwhelming number of communities experiencing deterioration of homes. As countless number of residences became subject to lower market value assessments, families scraping to make ends meet could no longer afford costly repairs nor would the property qualify for improvement loans. Apply the above situation to homes of the elderly, poverty level, at risk, or underserved population within  Salem County, negative presumptions are many. Habitat recognized an extraordinary trend with homes becoming unsafe and unhealthy.

Habitat created a program that will provide these needed services to residents in Salem County who cannot afford repairs to their homes. For this project Habitat will use its expertise and outreach to professionals with volunteering time and assistance to help homeowners, as well as, Habitat administrative staff and Board of Directors guiding the Habitat Handyman Revitalization Program through multi steps of implementation. Habitat for Humanity International lends leadership and program development support as well.
