LUCY Outreach

Prospectus

LUCY Outreach provides a wide array of services for Camden County youth and young adults ages 12-25. At least five times each week, young people gather to engage in a variety of programs organized around one of four areas of youth development: educational, service-oriented, spiritual, and social. These programs include afterschool services, evening workshops and speakers, and weekend trips and retreats.

LUCY (“Lifting Up Camden’s Youth”) Outreach offers multi-lingual, culturally sensitive services to low-income Camden County teens and young adults ages 12-25, and their families. LUCY accepts and welcomes all youth to take part in educational, social, spiritual, and service-oriented programming and also provides support and resources within the homes and schools.

LUCY empowers youth to form healthy relationships, make good choices, and develop into compassionate and socially responsible adults who make a positive difference in their community. LUCY Outreach addresses all environmental systems that impact the youth including their home life, peers, and neighborhood environment. Appropriate programs, resources and support for effective change are provided to improve the quality of life of the youth and their families including:

On Tuesday and Thursday evenings, educational nights are held.  Topics include leadership development, team building, interaction with college volunteers, money management, body image, college panels, career fairs, self-defense.  The list goes on and on.

Monthly college campus visits!  A few of the recent ones include Rowan University, Neumann University, and tours of schools in the Boston area.

There is a Graduate Mentor Program every third Wednesday for 18-25 year old graduates.  Resources and support is provided for adult milestones such as parenthood, career, employment opportunities,  living independently, healthy relationships, interviewing and networking skills.
