Donor Advised Funds A donor-advised fund helps individuals, families, and businesses organize their charitable giving. Contributions may qualify for an immediate charitable tax deduction and can be invested for potential growth. The donor names one or more advisors who may recommend grants to eligible nonprofit organizations.
Cause-Specific Fund A cause-specific fund supports a broad charitable interest, such as education, environmental protection, historic preservation, children, older adults, or arts and culture. Instead of selecting one nonprofit organization, the donor chooses the general cause the fund will support. CFSJ selects and approves grants that match the fund’s purpose.
Collaborative Funds A group fund allows several people to combine their charitable gifts and increase their impact. The group works with CFSJ to establish its goals and recommend the causes, projects, or nonprofit organizations it would like to support. CFSJ manages the fund and approves all grants.
Designated Agency Funds A designated fund provides ongoing support to one or more nonprofit organizations or programs selected by the donor. The fund is invested, and grants are distributed over time rather than given as one large gift. If an organization closes or can no longer fulfill its purpose, CFSJ will work with the donor to identify a program that maintains the spirit of the original charitable intent.
Legacy Funds A legacy fund allows donors to create a lasting charitable impact through their estate plans. Donors may establish a fund through a will, bequest, or agreement with CFSJ and can define the causes, communities, or organizations they want to support. In many cases, donors can update their charitable goals with CFSJ without changing their will.
Scholarship Funds A scholarship fund provides financial support for students pursuing education after high school. Donors may recommend a field of study and eligibility criteria, such as financial need, academic achievement, community service, or place of residence. CFSJ can manage the application and selection process, while donors may also participate in selecting recipients within established guidelines.
Special Project Funds A special project fund supports a specific charitable initiative, community need, or new opportunity. These funds may be created by businesses, foundations, individual donors, CFSJ, or community partnerships. They offer a flexible way to organize and support short- or long-term charitable projects.
Agency Endowment Funds An agency endowment fund helps a nonprofit organization build long-term financial support. CFSJ invests and manages the fund with a long-term charitable focus, while the organization receives ongoing distributions to support its mission. This allows nonprofit leaders to focus on their programs and services while CFSJ manages the investments.
Corporate Philanthropy Funds A corporate philanthropy fund helps businesses organize their charitable giving around company goals and community priorities. CFSJ can manage some or all of the administrative work, from identifying nonprofit partners to reviewing and overseeing grants. Businesses can remain involved in giving decisions while relying on CFSJ to help manage the process efficiently.
