$450,000 in Grants to Strengthen Local Nonprofits Across Eight Counties

South Jersey Resiliency Fund (SJRF)

The Community Foundation of South Jersey (CFSJ) and its partners announced on February 4, 2026, the first round of grant award recipients from the SJRF, a pooled initiative designed to strengthen the operational capacity of the region's nonprofit sector. In this initial cycle, grants were awarded to organizations across all eight southern New Jersey counties—Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean, and Salem.

SJRF was established to provide critical, unrestricted funding to local nonprofits as they face rising service demands and increasing operational costs. By providing flexible resources, the SJRF empowers nonprofit leaders to address their most emergent needs, from technology upgrades to program stability, ensuring their organizations can continue to deliver on their missions during this turbulent time.

Through an open and competitive application process, sixty (60) organizations were selected to receive funding from the Fund in its first grant opportunity. By design, the process focused on equitable grantmaking practices, including providing general operating support, geographic spread across the region, and prioritizing smaller and grassroots organizations that provide services at the neighborhood level. In this first round, the SJRF received more than 270 applications requesting nearly $4 million in funding. This overwhelming response underscores the urgent need for flexible capital within the South Jersey social sector, a need the Fund will continue to address through future grant funding opportunities.

“When our neighbors do better, our towns do better. This Fund is about ensuring the local organizations on the front lines receive support to address the priorities they identify as crucial in these uncertain times,” said Andy Fraizer, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of South Jersey. “These grants represent a collective belief that South Jersey prospers together. We are grateful to our partners for trusting local leaders to use these funds where they are needed most”.

SJRF is supported by a coalition of philanthropic and business leaders, including:

  • The Campbell’s Foundation
  • Community Foundation of South Jersey
  • Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation
  • Holman
  • Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey
  • Regional Foundation
